Vedanta Goshala was established by the founder president of the organization, Shri Shailendra Sawant, along with 11 Gosevak colleagues, in 2015 at Pune Dharmadaya through Chandrabhaga Charitable Trust. Although the organization was established in 2015, Shri Shailendra Sawant was influenced by the contact of the great saint of modern India, Shri Late Rajiv Bhai Dixit, in 2000 and started working in remote tribal areas like Wada and Mokhada in Thane district. While working with Shri Rajiv Bhai, he was inspired by the idea that if a cow survives, the family living in the village can survive and decided to leave his career in the corporate sector in Mumbai and join Go Seva full-time. Later, after his marriage in 2005, his educated wife, who was from the software sector, also supported him and now she also works full-time as Go Seva. Till now, Shri Shailendra Sawant has actively participated in cow protection activities in many places like Mumbai, Satara, Pune and has saved thousands of cows. But after realizing that this issue will not be solved by just protecting the cows, it is equally important to protect and nurture the cows that are protected, so in 2015, a social educational trust was established and its own cowshed was built and other cowsheds were also guided in setting up cowsheds. The cows that come to Gorakshanath are given to capable cowsheds and needy farmers to take care of them.
Today, there are 21 cows at the cowshed at Satara Kas Road Petri owned by the organization. A pair of workers are permanently employed at the cowshed and other workers are given employment as and when required. To make the cowshed self-sufficient and to stand on its own feet, Panchagavya items are manufactured at the cowshed. Many office bearers and members of the organization have taken training in the manufacture of these items. Panchagavya items mainly include burning lamps, dung used for sacrifices, incense, cow urine extract and many other items made from Panchagavya.
In order to ensure that the products made on the cowshed are sold in the market smoothly, the Vedanta Gomata Agro Farmer Producer Company has also been established under the guidance of the organization. Through this company, in addition to providing employment to many unemployed youths through the sale of these products, the company is trying to provide Satvik Puja materials to the customers for regular worship without using any harmful chemicals. Initially, the company has been working through an annual membership scheme to raise capital for the cowshed. When the financial situation improves, the company intends to provide retail and retail sales as well.
This year, in front of the yagna held on the day of "Vasubaras" at the cowshed, the president of the organization, Shri Shailendra Sawant, has resolved to adopt 1000 cows from the cowshed and cow protection. Since ancient times, cows have had exceptional importance in the Indian Hindu society. Cows were at the forefront at the religious, social and economic levels. Good food grains were grown on cow dung and urine. The entire family was fed on milk and milk products. In many types of yagna works, the purity of the house, environment and mind was maintained by using Panchagavya puja materials. In this way, the body and mind were kept in the presence of Mother Cow and the objects made from her.
Through regular pujas and yagnas, the society remained constantly connected with God and religion, and Mother Cow was the basis of this. Foreign invading powers committed the sin of systematically removing the mother cow, the backbone of India's economy, religious system and social system, from the Indian system by establishing political power. Some evildoers even tried to show her directly to the slaughterhouse. As a result, agriculture collapsed. Good, healthy, and chemical-free food grains were no longer available. The body, which was well nourished on milk, began to be malnourished.
With the cessation of pujas, the atmosphere in the house deteriorated and the mental health of the family was lost. The harmony of the house was lost, under the excessive freedom of personal freedom, the elders lost their dignity and due to all this, the mental health of the family and the society completely deteriorated despite the financial well-being.
We have seen many times that if religion is destroyed, then God and the country get into trouble. The basis of our religion is the cow. And therefore, to restore the glory of the cow and consequently the society, we are working in the society through our cowshed company to save cows and save the world. No matter how small these efforts are, just as the milk in a large milking pan is converted into curd the next morning with a spoonful of curd, we are working like a curd. You will also support us in this effort and, however, we expect you to adopt a cow from the cowshed by paying Rs. 11,111. Thank you.
